Gundam EX: The Revolutionary Mobile Suit That Changed the Course of War

The RX-78(G)E Gundam EX: A Cutting-Edge Mobile Suit

The RX-78(G)E Gundam EX is a revolutionary mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces, introduced in the critically acclaimed series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. This state-of-the-art machine is designed for reconnaissance-in-force and rear disturbance deep into enemy territory, boasting unparalleled maneuverability and operating time on the ground.

Design and Features

The Gundam EX’s head is equipped with an array of cameras and sensors, enabling it to gather vital information during reconnaissance missions. The light-up patterns on its eyes change depending on their current function, adding an extra layer of sophistication to its design. With a height of 18.5 meters and an empty weight of 41.2 metric tons, this mobile suit is a force to be reckoned with.

Armaments

The Gundam EX is armed with an impressive arsenal, including a long-range beam rifle capable of destroying a mobile suit in a single shot, a shoulder-mounted gatling cannon for suppressing enemy mobile suits, and a beam saber for close-quarters combat. Additionally, it features a large defensive shield, head autocannons for point-defense, and a hyper bazooka for demolishing fortified targets.

Combat History

The Gundam EX made its debut on November 6, U.C. 0079, during a surprise Federation assault to retake the Cluj-Napoca base in Romania. It singlehandedly defeated the Red Wolf Squadron’s mobile suits, showcasing its superior technology. The Gundam EX continued to play a pivotal role in subsequent battles, including an armored assault on an unnamed recycling plant and a mission to stop an attempted hijacking of two GMs by Zeon infiltrators.

Tragic Demise

During the attack on the Odessa Spaceport, the Gundam EX engaged Iria’s Zaku II in combat, with Iria attempting to establish a dialogue with the Gundam’s pilot. Swayed by Iria’s words, the Gundam EX’s pilot shoved Iria’s Zaku II away from the falling debris of a destroyed HLV, taking the brunt of the crash. Weakened by the impact, the Gundam EX was caught off guard by a surprise attack from a Gouf Custom, resulting in its tragic demise.

Legacy

The RX-78(G)E Gundam EX left an indelible mark on the One Year War, pushing the boundaries of mobile suit technology and showcasing the Earth Federation Forces’ commitment to innovation. Its legacy continues to inspire generations of mobile suit designers and pilots, serving as a testament to the power of human ingenuity in the face of adversity.

One response to “Gundam EX: The Revolutionary Mobile Suit That Changed the Course of War”

  1. I always wondered if this was an experimental prototype for the RX-79 (G)’s that was repurposed to use in combat. Like, it was a test unit to try new things for the ground based Gundams but then was updated to be deployed later because the Federation NEEDED to use it in actual combat. It would explain the similarities to the 79’s and that EZ-8 styled head and also why it looks so different armor-wise.
