The FF-X7-Bst Core Booster is a high-performance, multi-purpose fighter featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow and Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space compilation movies. This space and atmospheric fighter boasts impressive versatility, thanks to its advanced main computer, which has over ten times the processing power of other aircraft.
Design and Development
The Core Booster was developed based on the data of the G-Sky and G-Sky Easy. Unlike its predecessors, the Core Booster is a pure fighter, designed to address the limitations of the Core Fighter. Its attachment to the Core Fighter solves the problems of weak armaments and low fuel capacity.
Armaments and Performance
The Core Booster is equipped with two beam cannons powered by the reactor, granting it significant firepower when docked with the Core Fighter. Additionally, it features two missile launchers underneath the beam cannons and a bomb bay capable of holding two anti-submarine multi-warhead bombs. The fighter’s thermonuclear engines provide excellent performance in both atmospheric and space environments, with a maximum speed of Mach 5.38.
History
The Core Booster saw combat during the One Year War, with a total of 16 units produced, six of which engaged in battle. Notable pilots of the Core Booster include Sayla Mass and Sleggar Law. The fighter played a crucial role in several key battles, including the defense of the White Base and the duel between the Gundam and Char Aznable’s MS-14S Gelgoog Commander Type.
