The Fateful Confrontation: Battle of Fifth Luna
A New Era of Conflict
In the wake of the Gryps Conflict and the First Neo Zeon War, the Earth Federation sought to establish a new peacekeeping force to prevent future uprisings. Londo Bell, comprising former members of the Anti Earth Union Group and Karaba, was formed to maintain order. However, Spacenoids remained skeptical of Londo Bell’s intentions, still reeling from the Titans’ brutal actions.
The Return of Char Aznable
On December 22, UC 0092, Char Aznable, the enigmatic leader, resurfaced and announced his presence to the world. Alongside his Zeonic movement, Newborn Neo Zeon, he orchestrated a bloodless takeover of the Sweetwater colony, which was welcomed by its inhabitants.
A Declaration of War
On February 27, UC 0093, Char declared war on the Earth Federation, driven by his vision of humanity’s evolution into Newtypes. Londo Bell scrambled to prepare for battle, with Anaheim Electronics racing to complete the RX-93 ν Gundam, a cutting-edge Mobile Suit.
The Battle for Fifth Luna
On March 3, UC 0093, Newborn Neo Zeon seized control of the resource asteroid Fifth Luna, redirecting it towards Earth. Despite valiant efforts by Londo Bell’s RGM-89 Jegans, the asteroid’s engines roared to life. As the situation spiralled out of control, Char launched in the MSN-04 Sazabi to rescue Gyunei Guss, trapped in his MSN-03 Jagd Doga.
A Desperate Showdown
Amuro Ray, piloting the RGZ-91 Re-GZ, clashed with Gyunei in a fierce battle. Char intervened, saving Gyunei from Amuro’s attack. The two enemies exchanged heated words, with Amuro warning Char of the catastrophic consequences of dropping Fifth Luna, and Char accusing humanity of selfishness. The Re-GZ destroyed the Sazabi’s beam shot rifle, but Char’s superior machine pushed Amuro’s suit back, forcing him to retreat.
A Devastating Aftermath
The Fifth Luna drop was a success, with the massive asteroid crashing into Lhasa, Tibet, destroying the Federation capital and claiming countless lives. Amuro, enraged by Char’s ease in recruiting followers and the colonies’ inaction, set his sights on the Moon, determined to continue work on the Nu Gundam and counter Char’s plans. The stage was set for a new era of conflict, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.
