Unveiling the Powerhouse Behind Zeon’s Arsenal: Zimmad
The Pioneers of Mobile Warfare
Zimmad, a private company, has been instrumental in shaping the course of mobile warfare in the Principality of Zeon. As a leading developer of advanced weapons, Zimmad has designed and produced some of the most iconic mobile suits in the Zeon arsenal, including the MS-09 Dom and MSM-03 Gogg.
A Legacy of Innovation
In the years leading up to the One Year War, Zimmad was one of the companies vying for the prestigious military contract with the Principality of Zeon. The company’s innovative designs, such as the EMS-04 Zudah, showcased its capabilities in creating high-performance mobile suits. Although the Zudah ultimately lost out to Zeonic’s MS-04 Prototype Zaku, Zimmad’s perseverance paid off with the success of its Dom line of mobile suits.
Rise to Prominence
Zimmad’s MS-09R Rick Dom was chosen to succeed the Zaku II as the Principality’s main space combat mobile suit, cementing the company’s position as a leader in mobile warfare. The MS-09 Dom was poised to become the main ground mobile suit, but Zeon’s defeat on Earth halted its production. Undeterred, Zimmad continued to push the boundaries of innovation, developing new designs like the YMS-15 Gyan, which, although rejected, demonstrated the company’s commitment to excellence.
Post-War Evolution
Following the war, Zimmad was absorbed by Anaheim Electronics and rebranded as “AE/ZIM.” This new entity continued to develop cutting-edge mobile suit weapons, such as the clay bazooka and the GP02A’s atomic bazooka. Zimmad’s legacy extended beyond the war, as it continued to improve weapons for the Republic of Zeon.
Key Players
Jean Luc Duvall, a seasoned officer in the Principality Forces, played a crucial role in Zimmad’s success. With 12 years of experience as a test pilot at Zimmad, Duvall’s expertise was instrumental in shaping the company’s innovative designs.
Behind the Scenes
Zimmad’s first appearance was in the final episode of Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War. The company’s history was further explored in Gundam Century, providing a glimpse into the inner workings of this influential organization.
