The YMS-15 Gyan: A Powerful Mobile Suit of the Principality of Zeon
The YMS-15 Gyan is a prototype close quarters combat mobile suit developed by Zimmad Company for the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. Designed with exceptional close combat ability, the Gyan was intended to engage in melee combat against the Earth Federation Forces’ mobile suits.
Design and Features
The Gyan has a silver and dark gray color scheme, with a distinctive Pickelhaube-inspired head design. It is equipped with a fluid pulse accelerator, which stores excess pressure generated by the reactor and transmits it to each actuator when needed. This system greatly improves the Gyan’s responsiveness and range of motion.
The Gyan’s primary weapon is a custom beam saber, which has higher output than the standard Federation beam saber. It also features a missile shield, which combines offensive and defensive capabilities. The shield can store 60 needle missiles and 25 hide bombs, making it a formidable opponent in close combat.
History
The Gyan was developed as one of four potential designs for a successor to the MS-06F Zaku II. However, it was ultimately not selected for mass production, and the MS-14 Gelgoog was chosen instead.
In the anime Mobile Suit Gundam, a single Gyan unit was customized for Colonel M’Quve of the Mobile Assault Force. M’Quve used the Gyan to engage the RX-78-2 Gundam in combat, but was ultimately defeated.
Variants
Several variants of the Gyan have been developed, including the MS-15A Gyan Mass Production Type, MS-15B Gyan High Mobility Type, and MS-15C. variant have.201.
