The Turbulent Legacy of Neo Zeon
In the aftermath of the Gryps War, the Earth Federation was left reeling, its forces severely depleted. Meanwhile, the AEUG, the anti-Federation organization, had also suffered significant losses. Amidst this power vacuum, a new threat emerged: Neo Zeon.
The First Neo Zeon War
In U.C. 0088, Axis Zeon, a remnant of the Principality of Zeon, rebranded itself as Neo Zeon and launched a surprise attack on Earth. Led by Haman Karn, Neo Zeon’s forces quickly gained control of several locations in Africa, exploiting the weakened state of the Federation. The AEUG, however, refused to back down, and with the help of new recruits like Judau Ashta, they mounted a resistance against Neo Zeon’s forces.
The war raged on, with both sides suffering heavy losses. In a desperate bid to turn the tide, Neo Zeon dropped a colony on Dublin, Ireland, killing thousands of civilians. The AEUG and Karaba, a civilian resistance group, managed to rescue some of the survivors, but the operation was a brutal reminder of Neo Zeon’s ruthless tactics.
Neo Zeon Civil War
As the war dragged on, internal conflicts began to tear Neo Zeon apart. Glemy Toto, a rival of Haman Karn, declared his own faction, sparking a civil war within Neo Zeon. The AEUG saw an opportunity to exploit this division and launched a series of attacks against both factions. In the end, Glemy’s forces were defeated, and Haman Karn was killed in battle.
Aftermath
With Haman’s death, Neo Zeon was left leaderless, its fleet decimated. However, this was not the end of the movement. Char Aznable, a legendary mobile suit pilot, would later return and take control of the remaining Neo Zeon forces, setting the stage for the Second Neo Zeon War.
The Second Neo Zeon War
In U.C. 0090, Char Aznable, now the leader of Neo Zeon, launched a new campaign against the Earth Federation. His goal was to force humanity to abandon Earth and migrate to space, creating a natural sanctuary. The Londo Bell Task Force, a new anti-Federation organization, was formed to counter Neo Zeon’s aggression.
The war was marked by brutal battles and devastating attacks, including the dropping of asteroids on Earth. In the end, the combined efforts of the Londo Bell and the Federation managed to defeat Neo Zeon, but not before Char Aznable’s forces had inflicted significant damage.
Laplace Conflict/Third Neo Zeon War
Years later, in U.C. 0096, the remnants of Neo Zeon, now known as “The Sleeves,” regrouped under the leadership of Full Frontal, a charismatic figure known as “the Second Coming of Char.” Their goal was to uncover the secrets of the Laplace’s Box, a mysterious artifact with the power to shape the course of human history.
The conflict that ensued was marked by intense battles and unexpected alliances. In the end, the truth about the Laplace’s Box was revealed, and the long conflict between the Earth Federation and the remnants of the Principality of Zeon finally came to an end.
With the eradication of all conflict in the Earth Sphere, the Universal Century era drew to a close, marking the beginning of a new era of peace and cooperation.
