Demeziere Sonnen, a seasoned artillery instructor, had seen his role diminished with the introduction of mobile suits. Undeterred, he seized the opportunity to pilot the experimental Hildolfr mobile tank, determined to demonstrate its value in combat.

A Complex Personality

Sonnen’s profile reveals a complex individual, with a mix of human and Oldtype characteristics. His brown hair and blue eyes belied a deep sense of insecurity, stemming from his struggles to adapt to the changing landscape of warfare. Despite this, he remained resolute, relying on dope medicine to control his constant tremors.

The Fateful Mission

During the drop to the 67th Supply Depot in Arizona, Sonnen’s Komusai transport came under attack by Federation Forces. With his crew’s lives at risk, he took decisive action, dropping the Hildolfr 10km from the enemy to engage them. Utilizing anti-tank rounds, he destroyed two stationary Zakus, showcasing the mobile tank’s capabilities.

A Hero’s Last Stand

As the enemy retaliated, Sonnen’s exceptional piloting skills allowed him to outmaneuver and eliminate four more Zakus and two tanks. Despite losing communications with the Komusai, he fought valiantly, but ultimately succumbed to mortal wounds. His bravery, however, ensured the survival of the Hildolfr’s black box and combat data.

Legacy of a Fallen Hero

Months later, the Noisy Fairy Squadron recovered the Hildolfr’s cannon and Sonnen’s body, honoring him with a funeral and white flowers. Though the mobile tank concept was eventually abandoned, Sonnen’s sacrifice served as a testament to his unwavering dedication.
