Gundam’s Timeless Triumph: “Time, Be Still” Episode 14

Frozen in Time: The Unforgettable Episode of Mobile Suit Gundam

Episode 14: Time, Be Still

In the midst of a chaotic war, a single episode stands out for its unique blend of action, drama, and character development. Written by the renowned director Yoshiyuki Tomino, “Time, Be Still” is a testament to the creative genius behind Mobile Suit Gundam.

A Brief History

Originally airing in Japan on July 6, 1979, and later in North America on August 9, 2001, this episode marks a significant milestone in the series. As the fourteenth installment of Mobile Suit Gundam, “Time, Be Still” offers a fresh perspective on the ongoing conflict between the Federation and Zeon.

The Plot Unfolds

The episode begins with Giyal and Sol discussing the Federation’s mobile suit, which is closing in on their location. Despite being outnumbered, the soldiers devise a plan to attack, hoping to return to Side 3. Meanwhile, White Base is resupplying and repairing, with Matilda revealing that General Revil has been their benefactor, promoting Bright to Ensign and keeping him from being court-martialed.

Amuro’s Brave Feat

As Amuro launches in Gundam to provide a distraction for Matilda’s escape, he finds himself surrounded by Zeon pilots. With his quick thinking and bravery, Amuro manages to remove magnetic bombs from Gundam, earning the respect of his enemies.

Behind the Scenes

Did you know that the magician entertaining Zeon soldiers at the beginning of the episode shares the same character design as Edwin from Yoshiyuki Tomino’s previous anime work, Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3? Additionally, due to the omission of episode 15 in Western releases, some English versions feature a mismatched preview video and subtitles.
