The ORX-013 Gundam Mk-V: A Powerful Prototype Mobile Suit
The ORX-013 Gundam Mk-V is a prototype general-purpose mobile suit developed by the Augusta Newtype Research Institute. This powerful unit was designed to be a refined version of the MRX-009 Psycho Gundam and was initially commissioned by the Titans. However, as the political situation shifted, the project was taken over by the regular Federation Forces.
Design and Features
The Gundam Mk-V boasts an impressive array of features, including a Quasi-psycommu system that allows non-Newtypes to control wire-guided remote weapons. This system can actively scan the pilot’s brainwaves and translate them into commands for the remote weapons. The unit is also equipped with a shield booster, which can be attached to its back as an additional thruster.
Armaments
The Gundam Mk-V is armed with a beam rifle, two beam sabers/beam cannons, and two INCOM remote weapons. The beam sabers can also double as beam cannons, with a power rating of 12 MW. Additionally, the unit can equip two missile pods on each shoulder, making it a formidable opponent in mid-range combat.
Variants
There are several variants of the Gundam Mk-V, including the ORX-013 Gundam Mk-V Amuro Ray Custom, which was designed for legendary ace pilot Amuro Ray. Another variant is the ORX-013S Gundam Mk-VS Augusta Test Colors, which is equipped with an experimental beam rifle for data collection.
History
The Gundam Mk-V played a significant role in the conflict between the New Desides and the Earth Federation Forces. One prototype unit was presented to New Desides leader Brave Cod as a gift, and he piloted it during the battle for Ayers City on the dark side of the moon. Although Cod’s skills were impressive, he was ultimately defeated by the Ex-S Gundam piloted by Ryou Roots.
Legacy
The Gundam Mk-V’s design and technology would go on to influence the development of future mobile suits, including the AMX-014 Döven Wolf. Its legacy continues to be felt in the world of mobile suit combat.
