Following the war, Kikka was adopted by Hayato Kobayashi and his wife Fraw Bow, along with her two friends. The three siblings formed a strong bond with their new family, and Kikka grew especially close to her adoptive mother.

To prepare for her book, Kikka returned to the Kobayashi home in Shizuoka, where she received valuable insights from her adoptive mother and a letter from the late Hayato. She also contacted Kai Shiden, who provided her with a comprehensive list of the White Base and Karaba crew members.
