Komusai: The Reentry Capsule of the Principality of Zeon
The Komusai is a type of reentry capsule developed by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. This versatile spacecraft played a crucial role in transporting mobile suits and personnel from space to Earth.
Design and Capabilities
The Komusai is a lifting body aircraft that can fly in the atmosphere using its two thermonuclear rocket engines. It has a compact size, allowing it to be held in a Gaw attack carrier. The cargo hold can carry two MS-06 Zaku II mobile suits, as well as vehicles and supplies. The cargo compartment has three exits, enabling cargo to be loaded and unloaded in three directions.
Operational History
The Komusai was introduced alongside the Musai cruiser and became one of the primary methods for Zeon to transport mobile suits and personnel to Earth before the introduction of the Zanzibar-class mobile cruiser. These craft continued to be used after the One Year War by the newer Musai Kai-class of cruisers. One notable use of the Komusai was during U.C. 0080, when a Musai-class cruiser released the craft and two personnel to perform a kamikaze attack on the Pegasus-Class Assault Carrier Spartan during atmospheric reentry.
